No. That gleam comes from silicone coating on synthetic fiber. CoilCrown is human hair with the cuticle stripped and left unpolished, so there's nothing on the strand to reflect. Hold it beside any Kanekalon pack in daylight — the difference is immediate.
It's cut to a 4B–4C spring, which covers most tightly coiled natural hair. If you're a looser 4A, stretch the pack lightly before installing and it drops right in. Blow it out on low and it moves toward 3C–4A.
Matting is almost always buildup, not fiber. Heavy butters and gels collect at the root and cement the coil. Co-wash every two weeks with a diluted cleanser, work in sections, rinse until the water runs clear, and it will not lock on you.
Bulk hair is light — the strain comes from tension at the root, not the pack. Take smaller sections at the hairline, keep the first turn loose enough to slide, and leave your first two rows out of tight tension. If it stings going in, it's too tight.
Yes — three installs is normal. Take down slowly, separate the shed hair, soak in a diluted conditioner rinse, air-dry fully flat, then store it braided in a breathable bag. Damp storage is the only thing that ruins it.
